Ella in Aldeburgh

Ella went to All-ber (Aldeburgh) for the first time this week, where she made sandcastles on the beach, had a picnic of fish and chips, sailed a boat on the boating pond, went in a rowing boat at Thorpeness, and flew her kite on the beach. "What's yat?" has now been superseded as Ella's favourite question by "What's yat for doing?" Fountains, for example, are for sploshing. Noses are for wiping, and ears are for cleaning. What the rockets and satellites in the Science Museum are for is slightly harder to explain, though. Also this week Ella made "dillabuff" (syllabub) and licked the bowl, visited Anna at work and had a cookie, went to the Hor-minin Minin (Horniman Museum), learned to pronounce "dinosaur" correctly (rather than saying "die-dee-door") and played the drums at Simon and Jenny's house, both loudly and quietly.
