Ella and Miles!

"Why do you have a bottom? What is a tummy for? Daddy, when my legs grow I will not be able to sleep in this bed any more. Because this bed is too small. If you get pee up your nose then you will be in deep trouble! When I am big I will not run. I will walk."

This month Ella was 9. Her presents included an electronic keyboard, which she has been using to do her piano practice in her room, and a copy of the Iliad. (Having read many other versions of the story, she wanted to read the real thing.) For her birthday party she went for an adventure walk in Pooh country with Tamsin, Tiffany and Tabitha. Ella also went on a nature walk along Deptford Creek with Georgia. For book day at school, she dressed up as the goddess Athena. Miles was Harry Potter. Miles also went on a walk with one of his friends this month: we did a walk around Down House with Dom and his family. Miles and Dom learned about dandelion clocks, and they were accompanied by Benjamin Bear, who was visiting from school again (having visited long ago when Ella was small). The next day we all went on another adventure walk with Zoe, Georgia and Jude, armed with swords. Also this month Ella started to learn how to punt, a skill we hope she will find useful in a decade or so.
